The Seattle Library is a beautiful building and it took all my power to not tilt the camera even the slightest to show more of it. It wouldn’t be in keeping with Straight Up.

Rainier Building
My original thought was to photograph straight up from street corners–a public place accessible to all. This changed in Seattle when I sought refuge from the onslaught of rain. Luckily the Rainier Building, mid-block and seemingly perched on a small curving pedestal, came to the rescue. I have no problem photographing from the middle of the block now.
The EMP
It’s hard to find a straight line on the Experience Music Project (EMP) building by Frank Gehry. I aligned the camera to the loading dock outside of frame.
Sculptural Lamp
Wandering around the backside of Pike Street Market in Seattle, I came across this sculpture. It is a lamp. There are probably five of them and I chose this one because of the sky.
Seattle Space Needle
Luckily the rain stopped enough for me to make this image. This is early spring and I hoped there wouldn’t be leaves on the trees. I lucked out.
