This image of Chinaman Spring is the latest addition to the Yellowstone National Park series. The interestingly varied sinter deposits along the edges of this thermal feature are determined by either the turbulent or calm nature of the bubbling, splashing, and rippling water. The most active and violent water seems to produce the jagged projections [...]
This photograph is another of the Yellowstone National Park series. Thumbnails at the end of this post show a few detailed sections of this composition. Custom printed, large format, limited edition prints are available of this and other images from this series. Only five prints of this particular image will be produced and printed to [...]
This contemporary house, tucked away on a little side street in a very conservative neighborhood in Nashville, TN, blends in surprising well–that is, until you go inside. To see more of architect Price Harrison’s work, visit his site at www.priceharrison.com
Another fun hospitality project. This Marriott is located across from the newly built Convention Center and shares an underground connection tunnel for convenience. The bar photo is a actually a stitch of three exposures to give the equivalent of a wide-angle 20mm lens (on a 35m camera). All images photographed with Hasselblad 39mp digital back [...]
In December 2009 I made the latest trip to Jackson to photograph the eco-friendly Hotel Terra. Here is a collection of my favorite images for the Hotel Terra since 2008. The hotel is fantastic, centrally located, and very cool. If your plans take you to Jackson, I recommend booking herel!
Through Price Harrison of Nashville, TN didn’t design the room or even the architecture that defines the space, he set the style for the place by specifying the Italian furniture by B&B Italia. Two custom designs of his also complement the space: the custom designed bed, and the one of a kind multimedia hearth. See [...]
This project is currently featured in the Architecture Portfolio section in Con(de)struction.
This image was used by Schindler Elevator Company for their 2009 annual report. If it were possible to stop all the elevators, we would have, but this was logistically impossible given the flow of people in the hotel. I therefore photographed each one in as many positions as possible (each at eight second exposures) and [...]

My advice: the best upgrade is a good lens and uy the best lenses you can afford. Lenses, lenses, lenses. Today I finally did the mother of all lens tests. Mounting my Hasselblad CF39 digital back to the Sinar, using a heavy tripod, shooting tethered, and paying careful attention to gentle shutter releases I ran [...]

This project was photographed in July of 2009 for architect Robert Oshatz. Located in Pacific City, Oregon, this summer residence stands apart within this small beach community. The front porch area can glide out to accommodate larger groups of people and the large glass windows inside double as stereo speakers. Robert, who lives and works [...]

Michi Yanagashita and Yen Ha of Front Studio contacted me to photograph this remodel in Harlem and we’ve been pals ever since–except when do we ever get to hang out. Lunch. In addition to having excellent taste in architectural style, these two also maintain a food blog called “What’s for Lunch” which details their other [...]
