Rollei, Schneider, Zeiss, Rodenstock Lens Tests
My advice: the best upgrade is a good lens and uy the best lenses you can afford.
Lenses, lenses, lenses. Today I finally did the mother of all lens tests. Mounting my Hasselblad CF39 digital back to the Sinar, using a heavy tripod, shooting tethered, and paying careful attention to gentle shutter releases I ran diffraction tests on all my view camera lenses. These include the Schneider Digitar 35mm XL, the Schneier Digitar 47mm XL, Rodenstock 60mm HR digital, and Rodenstock 180mm HR digital lenses. I then did the same thing with my Rollei Integral II and it’s quiver of lenses which consist of Zeiss Distagon 40mm FLE, Schneider 80mm, Schneider 90mm Apo-Macro, Schneider 150mm, and Schneider 180mm. Given the resolution of the digital sensor at 39 megapixels, each lens performed beautifully. Turns out, not surprisingly, each lens exhibits diffraction at f/stops greater than f/11. The lenses are razor sharp with a slight edge going to the Rodenstock HR’s and the Schneider 90mm Apo-Macro.
